What are ways to eliminate and reduce stretch marks?

What are ways to prevent them?

I think they're really ugly and seeing them makes me depressed.

Especially when I know that I can't wear revealing clothing because they look so unattractive.

I feel like my body is ruined sometimes.

Then I get more of them and my skin feels like it's being pulled apart. I wish I could get better-looking skin.

Please help. Thanks.

Right now, from the information I've gathered..

I've read people say that they can't completely go away.

The only way to get better-lookin' skin is to drink lots of water, to replenish the body, to eat healthy foods, and probably moisturize a lot.

Then, there's surgery, but then, that might bring in more scars, and that's a scary thing to do.

Also, the most common answer is that they will fade away over time.

Does anyone know how to help make them fade away?

Do genes play a role in stretch marks?

What are the causes of having stretch marks?

Probably, dry skin and not eating healthy enough.

Any more info and help is great!

Honestly, you're going to get the same answer here that you found elsewhere.

There aren't any magical cures for stretch marks. Creams with substances like cocoa butter, vitamin K, etc, may or may not help with the fading process, but honestly, we encourage accepting your body the way it is instead of trying to change it.

The marks will fade over time. They aren't dirty, nor do they ruin your body.

Too, as a side note, stretch marks don't really having anything to do with how you eat or how much water you drink. Stretch marks are caused when the skin is literally stretched to the point where the elastin, what helps keep your skin supple and somewhat elastic, breaks down. They are totally normally developmental occurance, and many teenagers and young women experience them to some degree. Pregnant women or people who gain weight rapidly also tend to see them.

...and just think, if you can get that acceptance down, you'll be way better off when it comes time to deal with wrinkles, age spots, grey hairs and our pal gravity! [Smile]
