Hi, I am an eighteen year old girl and I have a question about painful intercourse. My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. About a year into our relationship I became pregnant. We both decided abortion was the best choice for us. Since then sex has been painful for me. Usually you are supposed to have a check up about two weeks afterward so you can get a script for the pill. When I called to make that appointment they just told me to go to the pharmacy, that everything was taken care of. I know I should have already gone back, but I get freaked out before I go to any kind of doctor appt. I guess I'm afraid of what they might say, so I am just trying to get a heads up. So I had the abortion a year ago and when he and I have intercourse, only when he penetrates deeply, I have a sharp pain which feels like it goes through my uterus, after we are done I have terrible cramping...kinda feels like my ovaries are yelling for attention.....any thoughts? Sam

It is time you get a pelvic exam. Sounds like there might be problems with your cervix or upper portion of your vagina. Make an appt with the doctor and mention that you are having problems with sexual intercourse. Describe it to your Dr. as you have told us here.
