I was switched from yasmin to a generic brand of ortho-cyclen (sprintec). I was advised to finish my pack of yasmin and I did but I didn't have the placebo break I just began taking the new pill. My doc said that I didn't need a back up method since I was going to a stronger pill. I'm four days into my new pill and I haven't been using protection because she assured me that as long as I take it everyday that I didn't need to. So I should be ok right? Was I suppose to take it after the placebo break or does it not matter that I skipped the placebo week? Thanks

We tend to err on the side of caution around here, so we'd always advise using a backup method when making any changes.

But, since it's really just a brand switch, I think you can trust your doctor's advice. However, gioven how often you worry about pregnancy per your posts, I'm not sure I understand why you're not using condoms as backup, period, all the time, just for your own peace of mind.
