Some weeks ago I posted about a probable STI I had gotten through unprotected manual/oral sex. The thing is, I asked for an appointment with the gyno, but I got it for the 22nd of August. I figured that if I had to wait for that long, the symptoms might had gone away when the day of the appointment came.

Anyway, some days after I wrote that post, which was more or less around the 15th of July, the symptoms started to fade - the burning/painful sensation in the vagina/urethra area, which was more or less the only symptom -. A week or so afterwards, the syptoms started again, but I had no choice but to keep waiting, and then they faded again. Six or seven days ago the symptoms started for the third time and still haven't gone away, but they're more or less starting to fade once more.

I'd like to know what I should do while I wait for the day of my appointment - is there anything I should avoid or should take, etc. I really am at a loss, since I don't think it's good for me to leave this going for a whole month, but it doesn't seem there's any other option - I'm not able to get an appointment earlier, even with a different gyno.

And, judging from the symptoms I described - pain and burning, mainly when touching the vagina and labia minora but not when urinating, that go away on their own and come back some days later -, what do you think it might be? I've read through the STI files but I'm not sure :/ and would like to find some more info about whatever it might be...

There are so many different infections with those symptoms, it is seriously impossible to say.

Can you not see a GP who can do a basic exam, rather than waiting for a GYN?

Otherwise -- and really, I'd suggest doing everything you can to get in and se SOMEONE, sooner, not later -- the best that can be suggested in the interim is to take care of yourself as best you can while you wait: eat right, get enough rest. Wear cotton underwear and avoid too-tight-pants or pantyhose. Try some gentle baths with salt and warm water. Don't use tampons or scented menstrual products. Hold off on sex for now. Drink plenty of water. Try fresh yogurt poultices to soothe the area.

But ideally: get into a doctor who can take a look before the 22nd.
