Last month, I was spotting the day before I was supposed to get my period. This month, it started a whole day early. I have been on bc for almost a year, and haven't missed any pills this month or last. DOes this mean that the pills aren't as effective? Can I still rely on them for protection? Thanks! Oh. Even though I started one day early, it was still during my sugar pills..

Per usual, we suggest backing up oral contraceptives with condoms regardless.

But since you're still getting your period when you're supposed to on the pills, I wouldn't think anything of it. It's normal both on the pill and off to have some fluctuation in your cycles.
