I'm just wondering if what my ideal of HPV is, is accurate or not. HPV is a genital wart and that's all it is right? It doesn't have all types of different forms like STDs do??

Are there other ways to contract HPV other than through sex? You can get cervical cancer from having HPV? So basically if you end up with cervical cancer from HPV it's from having warts?

I'm just wondering b/c i know somebody that has/had cervical cancer and i guess got it from HPV but i was wondering if i was understanding it right. If a person has cervical cancer from HPV and has surgery will it go away b/c i know genital warts aren't curable, or how does that work?

read this first: Herpes & HPV

HPV is the human papilloma virus. It causes warts in general, but when you get it, it picks its locations and more or less stays there. There are *many* different strains of HPV. Some are more dangerous than others. When a woman gets certain forms of HPV, she can get genital warts. Other times, she can get HPV, but no warts will appear. But in some unfortunate cases, the HPV (which by nature causes cells to grow weird) can cause cells to corrupt and turn into cancer.
