I can't even fit two of my fingers inside my vagina without it hurting like crazy. Now I'm beginning to think of first-time sex as a painful ordeal I will have to get through, rather than a joyous occasion. Is there a way I can intervene to break my hymen and increase the size of my vagina in preparation for the event??

...sorry I'm asking lots of questions in a row, but this is my first time on a message board like this, and all the questions I've ever had are coming out at once! Thanks

You might want to check out our article on
First Intercourse 101 to find out more about how to get ready for having first-time sex.

The vagina is a very stretchy muscular tube; it can expand to allow a baby's head to pass through it -- so really, if you are prepared for sex, relaxed and aroused, and using adequate lube, you will be able to achieve penetration without too much difficulty.

And please note Erin said stretchy - it will return to its original condition once you are not longer aroused/giving birth. You cannot permanently alter the size of your vagina.
