Does anyone think there is a certain age when it is ok to have sex? I am 17, I have been with my boyfriend for 6 months, we were very close before we officially got together and I am so very in love with him. He is not pressuring me to have sex but I feel like the time feels right, he will be leaving in a few weeks for five months and I am wondering if it would be okay morally to send my virginity with him. My only concern is pregnancym we are both virgens so STDs are not a question. I jsut want to know what people think?

Woah, I think you have a lot of reading to do as well as some thinking!

First of all, the only person who can make a decision about what's morally right for you is you. For some information to help you come to terms with the concept of virginity, you might be interested in this: Magical Cups & Bloody Brides

But there is some other stuff you need to be thinking about, too! Check this out: Ready or Not? The Readiness Checklist

Next, pregnancy is NOT your only concern; you are at risk for STIs even if you have only been sexually active with each other! Read this: A Quickie STD/STI Risk Assessment Many of those STIs are not only transmitted sexually; either of you could have any number of them, which is why sexual healthcare and safer sex is very important if you're sexually active and care about each other.

You can get the basic How's and Why's of safer sex here: Safe, Sound & Sexy A Safer Sex How-To

When you have all those other bases covered and you're really ready to begin thinking about intercourse, read this: First Intercourse 101

If you have questions after reading all of that carefully, please post in Sex Basics after the boards re-open and we'll be happy to help after you've taken advantage of all the reading material on the site.

Hope this helps,
