i would like to get birth control pills but do not want my parents involvement or consent. is this possible for a minor? if so, where (planned parenthood, personal doctor?) and what is the average cost? ALSO, when you reach 18, do you have the right whether or not you parents are informed and consent for you to get birth control pills?

yes, you can go to planned parenthood and get birth control pills confidentially (with a pelvic exam, of course). your parents don't have to know as long as you pay for them yourself. Oftentimes for teens, the pills are free. At most, a 4 month supply will sell for $16 at PP (feeling generous? it's good to pay if you can because there are other folks who can't and the organization still needs money to offer services -- consider it an act of altruism).
**BUT** trust and honesty are key in a good working relationship with anybody, ESPECIALLY your PARENTS. Here at ST, we encourage you to talk openly wih your folks so they know what's going on. It's part of being responsible about your sexual activity.
