how long is too long to wait for your period to come?

it's been three months since i've had my last regular cycle (late november). i've been spotting here and there, but that's about it.

i'm thirteen years old (and not sexually active) and have had my period for about a year now. i know my period is not expected to be regular, but i'm concerned that maybe this is too long of a time to wait for my next one to come.

the most i've ever skipped was a month and a half. i'm concerned. :/

There are lots of reasons for your period to be late, especially if you're 13. You've already said that you aren't sexually active, so you can rule out pregnancy. That's good.

But it could be anything from losing a significant amount of weight to lots of stress to exercising a lot to a specific physical problem. The best thing we can tell you is to get an appointment with a gynecologist (we recommend girls start doing this once they've had their first period) and see what they think, to make sure there's nothing wrong.
