Well, lymph nodes are things you've got in your body all the time. You can feel some of them in your throat and under your jaw, and in your armpits. When you're sick, even with a cold or something, they'll sometimes be swollen, easier to feel, and may hurt a little when you press them. That's what your doctor does when she 'feels up' your throat if you come in with the flu or a sinus infection.

A tumor, or tumour, is an unnatural growth. It's something that's NOT supposed to be there. Tumors can be benign (okay and not cancerous) or they can be malignant (something wrong with them, possibly cancer). Cancer is uncontrolled cell growth - therefore, it can manifest itself as tumors.

Lemme find you some links.

As promised:

Lymph Nodes and Their Problems

A good generalized discussion of what cancer is and how it can involve the lymph nodes

And you know, your family doctor I'm sure would be glad to help you with any personalized questions.

Hope this helps a little!
