To begin with, I'm in a realationship with my girlfriend for about a year now, and I love her very much. Yesterday she explained to me that she is a transgender that went through therapy, and surgery to become fully female. She explained, "I felt as if I was a girl trapped in a male body since I was a child." I understand the fact that she was scared to tell me the truth right away, and I forgive her for that. My question is, what does that make me? Does this make me gay?

It means you a man who loves the woman she is now.

Or, alternatively, you are one person who loves another.

Neither of those things has changed since she came out to you.

Sexual orientations and genders can come in all sorts of varieties and be called all sorts of different things. Only you can decide how you want to interpret what this means in your life.

Definitions are often personal--what "gay" may mean to someone is what "queer" means to another is what "genderqueer" means to another. If you are attracted to her as a woman and aren't attracted to men in general, I probably wouldn't think of you as gay. But I'm not you, and I can't tell you whether or not you are.

I'm not gay, I'm attracted to women, not men. I was confused and know I know I love the woman she is now so, I feel a lot better about myself. Thank you very much.
