Okay so I've been sick recently with a cold and am pretty snotty/mucus-y, so every so often I kinda gotta hock up a loog.

Yes, definetly disgusting, but for the past couple of days theres been blood or something. When I spit it will be pure blood and it's reallly dark and brown, but I don't get nosebleeds or anything.. so where is this blood comin from? could it be serious?

Sorry if I grossed anyone out too much :P

Likely it's just due to your tissues being inflammed and irritated from coughing.

But if it continues more than a day or two, it's wise to go to the doctor.

I would call a doctor very soon if it continues for too long. There are a lot of reasons for spitting blood, many of them very serious.

(mindmeld!)

well it's definitely been happening for more than a day or two... almost a week.
So I guess I should call up a Doc for next week!
Also what are some possible reasons for this to happen?

As Miz Scarlet mentioned, and i agree, it is most likely blood from your throat (which is irritated due to coughing) ... It's likely nothing to be too concerned about.

Gargling with warm salt water should help. If nothing else, it'll make it feel better and help prevent infection.

Hey Celery.

well THAT kinda sounds serious, i have the same thing but not as hardcore. but i get it from dry air and cold air, things like that so you might have the same thing , but your really sounds bad if its nothing but blood,
like they said you should go to a doctor.

Zander: hope i helped
