Hi, does anyone have any experience with dealing with knee surgery post-op in the long term? I had some pretty major surgery about 26 months ago, and although the resulting pain is minimal it still bugs me. My orthopedist prescribed two courses of physical therapy and that helped some, but I still have to take Rx anti-inflammatory drugs on a daily basis. As this has been going on for more than two years it's getting kind of old! Any idea's about what might help the pain? I already ice it for 30 minutes twice a day, and wear a brace when I do anything strenuous. Thanks, Tab

Actually, my father had surgery on his knee twice (the same knee) and just got his shoulder done about 3 months ago. His shoulder is taking him longer to recover than both surgerys on his knee. He was out of work for I'd say 4 weeks for his knee and 10 weeks for his shoulder. My father takes something called Bextra- I think thats an anti-inflammatory

If it has been 2 years your knees really shouldn't be bothering you anymore. Have you brought this up to your doctor? Maybe he can take some x-rays or take an MRI of your knee to see if there is any other damage going on in there?

I would have a chat with your doc and see if he can give you any further assistance.
