i had sex for the first time with someone who also was doing for the first time, and we had a lot of issues with the condom. first of all it wouldnt unroll and we had to push it down with what seemed like unnecessary force. also, it kept slipping off during sex. actually i got kinda scared for a second because he pulled out and the condom was gone and we couldnt find it on the bed, it had fallen to the floor. he told me he didnt ejaculate that time but im still not sure because the protection slipped. how can we ensure that the damn thing stays on next time?

Condoms only open one way - if you had to force it to unroll, it's possible that you trying to open it the wrong way. That could also explain why it wouldn't stay on.

It's also possible that the condom wasn't a good size match for your partner - if they need a snugger or looser fit, both of those could cause issues with condoms staying put.

This article might be helpful for you re: information about condoms:

If you're worried that external condoms just aren't the best contraceptive option for your partner, you can also look at other options here:

Hope this helps!
