Has anyone here had the Essure procedure done? If so, can you tell me your experiences with it? It seems like a no lose situation but there are also stories of it failing or injuring the uterus. For the record, I am considering a permanent birth control option and am really weary about going under the knife for a tubal. I am 23 with no children and have no plans whatsoever of having children, nor do I want to be on a form of birth control for the rest of my reproductive years. I know that it would be incredibly difficult for me to find a doctor who would sterilize me but I still want all the information I can get. One day, I will find a doctor to do it, even if I have to wait a few more years to do so. Any advice would be great!

I know this has sat a while without replies, which I assume is just because no one has seen it who has had this done. That's not surprising here, since a) our users skew to younger people, who rarely choose this method, and b) it's also a relatively new procedure.

So, the first thing I'd suggest is that you see if you can't find some places to ask people who tend to have older users than we usually see here.

But if you just want some links to do research, here's a handful to start with (which you may have found already, and if so, sorry I couldn't offer more):

Thanks for the links! I figured I wouldn't get many replies due to the age range but I have seen quite a few people my age post on here and thought that maybe someone could share a story about a relative or friend who has had it done. I try to stray away from Essure's main site because I have a feeling it is a bit biased as they play it off as a perfect procedure when I have read stories that say otherwise.

Do know that the FDA is actually pretty intense about truth-in-advertising with contraceptives and their ads/promotional materials. A couple years ago, Yaz got seriously hammered -- as they should have -- for making false or iffy claims about their pill.

So, I think you can actually feel pretty good about what information you find on their site (and that's coming from someone who is usually very skeptical about anything that's for-profit, so).
