I've been on the pill now for over a year. I'm completely happy with it but it causes one strange side effect-- i get no period at all! (which is kind of great for me [Cool] ) i know I'm not pregnant because its been over a year and my mom forced me to take pregnancy tests and they came out negative. I am going to the gyno soon but i probably should have done this as soon as i knew the pill caused me to have no period. I heard the pill just makes your body think your pregnant so you don't become pregnant maybe my pill works so well that i don't get a period anymore. Is this normal? Should i be worried?

Does your pill include 7-day placebo periods in each pack? As well, did you have regular periods before you started the pill?

(Just so it's clear, the pill doesn't make your body think it's pregnant. If we were going to simplify what it does that way, then it'd be about the pill making your body think it's not fertile. But whether or not someone has withdrawal bleeds isn't about the pill working better or worse. The pill's effectiveness doesn't change based on that.)

The thing is, that would be a pretty unusual side effect of the combined pill when you are taking placebo breaks, so it would be wise to check in with the doctor and make sure something isn't wrong.

Because missing periods for such a long time can often be an indication of a health problem, so you want to make sure you don't have something that's about illness that needs treatment, or where this is about something that could make you ill eventually, like undereating or overtraining.
