hi! i took out my last nuvaring two weeks ago, and then had my withdrawal bleed week. i could only see my doctor the week after that though, so i went one week without any form of birth control. i started the pill yesterday. what i want to know is, is it safe for me to have sex this weekend, relying solely on the pill? i am only worried about pregnancy risks, because my boyfriend and i have been tested for stis, the results were negative, and we are exclusive partners. thanks for reading!

Since you took an extra week off before starting the pill, rather than starting it when you would have put a new ring in, you can't rely on it for contraception until you've been taking it for at least a full week. So if you are going to be having sex this coming weekend, it's best to use a backup method like condoms.
