I recently started taking Depo and haven't received my period yet. My grandma is starting to ask questions and is all "Are you pregnant? SWEAR TO ME there's NO possibility you could be pregnant!" And as much as I wish I could just tell her the truth she would react very badly right now.

So my question is...how can I fake my period?

I'll be honest, I feel pretty uncomfortable talking about the ways through history women have "faked" periods, primarily to avoid things like stoning or being abandoned to starve by their husbands. One, because they're often either gross, scary or unsafe (gross = filling a sponge with cow's blood, scary and unsafe = putting broken glass in the vagina), but two, because I just really have personal issues supporting anything that would require women to lie like this.

Periods are late or absent sometimes. It happens. So, if you're not ready to be honest with your grandmother about being sexually active or using Depo, you could certainly just volunteer to take a home pregnancy test so she can relax, and just tell her your periods have been irregular lately.

Of course, telling her the truth is also an option so long as doing so doesn't put your personal safety at any sort of risk.

That does sound like a good idea. Maybe I'll just tell her to go buy a pregnancy test if she's so convinced.
