I've taken Plan B a while back and I got my period two weeks after taking it. It made my period start about 2-3 days early. I was wondering since Plan B supresses ovulation how does it cause a period to come? I'm just full of questions tonight lol

Sorry this got overlooked...

The simplest way to think about is that the Plan B works sort of like hormonal birth control. The extra hormones prevent ovulation from happening. Then, when those hormones are no longer there (i.e. when your body has processed all of what was in the Plan B) and the level drops off it can signal your body to bleed. Bleeding early doesn't happen for everybody who takes Plan B...it depends on how the individual woman's body responds to that amount of hormones in the EC and the drop off that occurs.

I probably wouldn't even consider the period you're talking about here to be early. 2-3 days difference in cycle length is pretty well within the norm. Even the most regular woman who hasn't taken EC can have a cycle that a few days longer or shorter on occasion.

Thanks! I have one more question/concern. The following Sunday after my period I started bc. I got my withdrawal bleed a week early. Did the ec have an affect on the bc?oh yeah, I didn't miss any pills & I took them @ the same time each day

It's possible that the hormones in your birth control and the EC caused the early withdrawal bleed.
