SO! i have my diaphragm. i have my spermicide. i have no trouble getting the thing in, can't feel it, doesn't get in the way at all. i love it. its great.
except....
i can't get it out myself.
seems in the course of penetrative activities, the diaphragm gets good and high up behind my pubis and try as i might, i can NOT get my finger in there enough to snag the rim. thus far my boyfriend has had to fish it out for me. while he's perfectly ok with doing that, its not the most comfortable nor the most convenient, especially given that i have to wait 6 hours before i can remove it.
any advice on making the diaphragm easier to remove?

You might want to try different positions for removing it (standing, squatting, laying down, etc).

It's also a good idea to practice putting it in and taking it out even when you're not engaging in any sexual activities, just to get the hang of it.

Have you tried different ways? Are you relaxed when you're reaching up there?

Bearing down a little (kind of the way you do when taking a bowel movement) at the same time you're removing it also is helpful.

I'm so glad you finally have it!

i can get it out fine if no sexual activities take place, its just that 1.5 cm of shifting back that seem to make all the dang difference. i've tried sitting, standing, lying down, pushing, everything! still can't reach.
(that being said, i'm so glad i finally have it, too!)

hmm... The only remaining advice I have is to a) make sure that you're not aroused when taking it out so that your cervix is sitting a little bit lower and b) use your longest finger to wiggle under the edge.

Beyond that, you've stumped me.

Also, some diaphragms come with a little tool for insertion (which I've never found works for that purpose at all, myself). You can also use that tool to get it out, as well.
