I know several ladies on this site use menstrual cups. I've tried instead, and while I had no trouble inserting/removing, little did I know that it would be grinding against my g-spot all day. Major ouch upon removal.

So, I've finally decided to order a reuseable cup. But the problem is, which one? I'm in the US, so my two domestic choices are the Diva and Keeper. Here are my thoughts on each.

Divacup- Made out of silicone, so is hypo-allergenic. Easier to clean, can sterilize. Not biodegradable. Is slightly less expensive. Women report them being stiffer than Keepers, though that helps them pop open easier. Cup comes with a short stem, which can be more comfortable. Has measurement markings for flow.

Keeper- Been around longer. Is made of natural gum rubber, which is biodegradable. May cause allergies in people prone to developing them. Women report them being softer and sqooshier in texture than silicone cups, though more difficult to pop open. Brown, which brings staining to a minimum. Slightly more expensive.

I'm looking towards getting a Keeper, half because it has a better name (heh) and half because I like the idea of something natural and softer on my girly bits. In addition, I've found a distrubutor who offers a lifetime guarantee.

To anybody with input: which cup do you prefer, and why?

Can't help with the comparison, having only tried a silicone cup. But just to add some info:

Cup comes with a short stem, which can be more comfortable.

Remember you can always trim the stem - the stems are just there to help with finding the end, and once you feel confident with that, you can cut them as short as you want, or even cut them off completely.

Thanks for pointing that out, logic_grrl.

That points out a disadvantage in the keeper; cutting off more than half the stem voids the guarantee.

FYI?

I would say the Diva is softer than the Keeper, not the other way round, by a serious long shot.

(And yes, I'm enough of a geek that to make sure I wasn't delusional, I just went and squeezed'em both a few times.)

Just another note on softness: I have a DivaCup, and I've noticed that if I just even roll it around in my hands a few times (and yes, I just went and tried this) the warmth softens it up even a bit more. Another thing I love about my Diva is the fact that you can toss it in the dishwasher to clean it; they're incredibly durable.

Hmmm, thanks for the insight, Miz Scarlet and karybu.

On second thought, I'll look more into the Divacup. I hear women have less problems with leakage, and you shot my softness argument out of the sky. [Smile]

Besides, I like the fact more that if I DID have to chop off the entire stem in a desperate attempt to get it to work for me, the Diva company would still accept a return, while the Keeper wouldn't.

Also, since I have recurring yeast infections, methinks it would be a good thing to be able to toss it into the dishwasher to sterilize. Thanks again!

Please don't squeeze the Diva [Wink]

Seriously, though, the Diva rocks my world! I just boiled the heck out of my Diva last night, in fact...I just love it!
