Hi,
I just started YAZ birth control Sunday, this is when i started my period. I have been on it for four days now and i'm still on my period. I have read up on this and alot of other people are saying that they have had their period for 10 or more days. I was just wondering if this is normal, or what to do? I am also experiencing alot of anxiety and depression with it. Has anyone else had this problem?

If I'm correct, You have 4 inactive pills . . which allow you to have your period.

It's normal to experience a longer period than 4 days if your body is used to menstruating for longer. You have just started taking Yaz so your body isn't used to it yet. I'd try to stay calm. Stress and anxiety can play a lot on your period, making it late, early, or even longer or shorter.

Also, birth control consists of hormones. Your body needs time to get used to the extra hormones. So if your period is wacky for the first month or so, I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

If you are deeply concerned, you could talk to your health care provider about your concerns.

For more information, you could visit the YAZ website . . here:

And just to add on, it can take up to three months for your body to fully adjust...so don't panic if you continue to even spot randomly for the next 2-3 months or so)

Thanks! I was just getting concerned, I keep reading all of these things on the internet about women who have had problems on Yaz, but i do realize that everyone is different and will react a different way to the pill.

I will stay on it and hang in there maybe it will change for the better.

Also know that there are numerous brands and types of birth control. It may take a while to find one that works best for you and your body. I think it's a bit to early to tell right now if Yaz is or isn't right for you, but time will tell. Good Luck.
