I found a post about this a couple weeks ago, but I just can't seem to find it and really want to know more about this. Is it safe to have sex during the 4th week of the pill pack? (the "periode" week) Can I get pregnant from this or am I completely covered? I would really like to know because no one has ever told me, nor have I thought to ask before...

You're completely covered. The placebo week mimics a natural cycle's decline in hormones caused by the dissolving of an unfertilized ovum. By then, the body already "knows" there's no pregnancy, if that makes sense, so the uterine lining sheds.
With consistent birth control pill use, no ovulation occurs, and the placebo pills exist just to let the hormone levels decline so that you can bleed.

Yep, you're still protected from pregnancy during your placebo week just as if you you were on your first, second or third week of your pack. No worries.
But it's important to remember that the pill doesn't protect you at 100 % from pregnancy-- it offers around 99 % protection from pregnancy with perfect use-- so even though the risks are small, there is still 1 % chances someone's get pregnant while being on the pill.

thanks you guys! I can't believe that I've wasted these couple years abstaining during that week! Makes me kinda mad just thinking of the lost opportunities with my bf...oh well, I know now!
