i really want to go on birth control. not because i am having sex, but becuase i am sick and frusterated of my periods. i have had my period for 7 years, and it is STILL not regular. i know this is because i am constantly dancing and working out. also, the degree to which i bleed greatly varies from cycle to cycle. sometimes it is only 3 days, while other times, it is 7 days. i am so frusterated of never knowing when my period will come. i want to get on the pill, but i am afraid of asking my mom because i think she will think the only reason i want to use it is so i can have sex. where as in reality, i don't even have a boyfriend. how can i try to talk to her about it?

First thing, understand that even on BCPs, if you have low body weight and are overexercising, your periods/withdrawal bleeds STILL may not occur regularly. So, no matter what you do, you're likely going to have to make some lifestyle changes if you want things to be more regular.

Per talking to your Mom, really, all you can do is be honest: you can't control whether or not she takes you at your word. However, you can do this on your own, too: you do not require a parent to go to a clinic like Planned Paretnhood, have an exam, talk about BCPs and, if all is well, get a prescription.
