I've been on the patch for 3 years and I have had no problems, except for occasional breakthrough bleeding. But I have heard that there are new studies about how the patch is not a good form of birth control and how blood clots are becoming more common in younger women, like 18-25. It's kind of scaring me a little bit. I'm not good with pills, and I easily forget to take my own medication. I don't want to go on the shot because I've heard that you can gain lots of weight, and cancer. I haven't heard much about the NuvaRing either. So can someone ease my mind.. please? Thanks! Remember that hormonal methods are NOT one's only birth control option, first of all. From the little data we have in the world for hormonal methods and young women, the risks for all methods (namely, blood clots and bone mass issues) are going to be risks with all those methods.

There is, however, NO documented, solid link thus far between those methods and cancer. But Depo is certainly your highest risk hormonal form, and the one that overall, more women have problems with per health issues and general comfort than others.

So, if you're going to stay on a hormonal method, and the patch is working for you, there's really no reason to switch.
