Do you have to have a prescription to get it? Is there no over-the-counter type of birth control one could purchase? Just wondering...

It would be best if you went to a doctor to get birth control. That way you can get a pelvic exam or any STD testing (which is optional, but highly recomended) and you can also talk with the doctor about what birth control method would be best for you.

Over the counter birth control you can purchase is male and/or female condoms, but having two methods would be safest.

(I meant pelvic exam, typos are the enemy)

(It's a pelvic exam, for the record)

There are a LOT of different methods of birth control. Some require a prescription -- like oral contraceptives -- or fittings -- like cervical caps -- and others do not: like condoms or Lea's Shield.
