I just had my first irregular Pap result EVER (in almost 20 years), and I just started the Nuvaring a year ago. I can help but wonder if it's the cause, understanding that it slowly releases locazied hormones... Anyone else had a similar experience?

I just started using the ring a week ago. Are you still using it? Still having abnormal paps?

I don't know if it has to do with your NuvaRing or not, but do note that while they should be viewed seriously and you should go in for a repeat pap, irregular pap smears that come about for no reason are not unnatural in women.

I had one my very first pap and it turned out just to be a fluke in the test, and it's happened to my mom on a couple different occassions.

Have you talked to your gynecologist about it? She could be the best judge to tell you if the NuvaRing should or should not be suspect for cauing the irregular pap.

Hi, I just had my first irregular pap smear (I'm 21) and I have had the nuvaring for about a year now... I was thinking the same thing, that maybe there is a connection. I'm trying to find more info about it, I'll keep you updated :-)

The ring causing an irregular pap smear would be pretty unlikely.

More likely is that if since using the ring, you have stopped practicing safer sex, you may have an infection present.

Know too, though, that you should always repeat a pap before getting too concerned: now and then general hormonal fluctuations and vaginal changes can result in an irregular pap.
