Has anyone eveer seen the movie "Kids"?
I have many times, and I think it's a really good movie.

It's a movie about a day of these teenagers who are all on drugs and drink, and have unprotected sex, and it turns out this one guy has AIDS and he always has sex with Virgins, so he is spreading the AIDS virus around because he never uses protection.

Again, I think it's a pretty good movie, anyone seen it?

I saw 'Kids' and good gosh, it made me hate ppl under the age of 20. and I was 17 at the time! all the unbridled hedonism, irresponsibility and recklessness really made me cringe. I sound like such a fuddy duddy, but yeah, I'm not into that sort of stuff. "Telly" is such a remorselessly hatable character.

"Go that way really fast, and if anything gets in your way ... turn." Better off Dead starring a teenaged John Cusack.

I liked the movie, I don't neccessarily agree with everything in the movie, but I do know that I strongly dislike "Telly" as much as Gumdrop Girl does!

I've also seen the movie, I was fortunate enough to see it in my 10th grade family studies class when I was 16. I say fortunate because there were quite a few people in my class who NEEDED to see something that--- not quite graphic--- but REAL!

I think that last scene in the movie was quite disturbingly real... when "Casper" rapes a half-drunken, half-conscious main character girl. (The name has slipped my mind) Here this is done because he was jealous that his friend Telly got some and he didn't. So he found the main girl that he knew, dropped his pants, and committed to raping her, however slowly, while other people were passed out drunk around him, simply saying, "don't worry, it's just me, Casper". Because you know... a vague disclaimer = all better!

"Sex can look like love if you don't know what love looks like. It is trying out trusting & being trusted... 'I can give it to you, and I can take it away. This sex is me', you can say. 'It is mine, take it. Take me. Please keep me.'"

I'm afraid it was just too hard for me to give this movie much credibility because Larry Clark, the director, in ALL his films just seems to personally get off on sexing-up teens and putting women in sexually violent situations. A lot of what he does doesn't strike me as authentic to real-life YA experience at all: it feels exploitive and manufactured.

Had it been made by anyone else, I may have been able to appreciate it more and may have tried harder to see the value in it. But having a pretty good feeling a director is getting a hard-on from displaying what we're supposed to believe is sexual trauma puts up a big barrier for me.
