How long does it take for the birth control pill to work? I just ended my period 2 days ago (Wednesday) and my boyfriend wants to have sex. I agreed, but as long as we had protection and we waited a week or so. He's totally comfortable for wearing a condom, but I'm not protected. I've heard it takes like a month before the pill actually works, but can i start the pill, him wear a condom and maybe try another form of birth control with it?

Hello . Scarleteen recommends that you use the birth control pill correctly for one month/cycle before you rely on it for protection without backing up with condoms.
It's not recommended for a guy to wear 2 condoms as there would be increased friction and chance of breakage. Using condoms by themselves is 98% effective with perfect use (2 out of every 100 women using condoms correctly will become pregnant each year) and 85% effective with typical use.
