So today my boyfriend and I had sex after about 2 weeks. First we had sex without a condom and everything was fine. Then he put a condom on and we resumed sex until we both finished. After we were done he went to the bathroom and came back telling me his penis felt raw. I looked at it and the tip of his foreskin was red and looked a little inflamed. He said he felt the pain after he put the condom on, and it felt like friction, as if he were rubbing it on carpet. The condoms are not expired and we've been using the same kind for months now. He also told me that the 2 weeks we weren't having sex that he also wasn't masturbating. After about 15 minutes he said his penis felt a little better but still felt raw. Should he be worried? this has never happened before and we only have sex with each other.

Condoms don't give anyone infections. People can have sensitivities or allergies to latex or the ingredients in some lubricants, but condoms cannot cause infections, as infections are caused by viruses, bacteria or parasites.

B. Adriana: I'd say it's doubtful this is about an allergic reaction or sensitivity to the condom, since, as you said, you've used them and this brand before without incident.

Here's what I'd suggest your boyfriend do. Give this a day or two, then see how he feels. If he feels just fine, then it may have just been overdoing it for himself that day, or having had some abrasion he hadn't noticed from something else (like, even from just wearing clothes, that can happen) he didn't feel or notice until he engaged in sex. But it's likely nothing to fret about.

If he doesn't feel just fine, then it's be sound for him to check in with a healthcare provider to see what's up. Sometimes a fungal/yeast infection can create a feeling of rawness like that, but that's not the only possibility.

this morning he said he felt better and that the tip was just a little pink so i'm guessing he's fine, thank you for telling me what it could be.
