I just had some surgery done, and the day after, got my period early. My hospital roommate told me that it's pretty common for women to have their periods brought on by surgery- she said that her last surgery brought on her period even though she'd just finished her previous one a few days earlier.

Has anyone else here experienced this, or know why it happens? I can't really find much online about it, and it was news to me! [Smile]

I've had 8 surgeries and I can definitely tell you this: They mess up almost every single body system that exists.

After I had my Gall Bladder removed I missed 2 periods. So it definitely screws everything up.

Surgeries are just added stress on your body, such as traveling, and we all know that stress can mess up our cycles.

So, I'm not too sure about the whole "women having their periods brought on by surgeries." Because I have had experience with both missing periods and getting them early.

There is an upside to everything, sometimes you just have to turn it upside down to find it.
