I was recommended to discuss birth control with my gyn but I dont have one, and I have no insurance...i called planned parenthood and a check up will end up costing about 200 dollars. Do I have no other options?

Planned parenthood clinics usually operate on a sliding scale. If you're a student, or if you tell them that you have a very limited income, they may be able to bring that cost down. Did you try asking about that?

When i went there and stated that i was a non working student, my services were free of charge. I don't know what your situation is, but if money is really tight, they should be able to accomidate you.

PP and similar clinics do oftentimes charge on a sliding scale. Have you asked about that?

I googled PP in Iowa, it looks like there is a program called Plansmart in lots of places that if you qualify will provide you with free birth control and services. I only spent a minute or so looking at the information but here is the site to see if it helps. http://www.plansmarttoday.org/index.html
