I'm only 15 so bare with me, I haven't had sex yet and I have no intentions of having sex for a while. But when I do I was wondering: Can you have sex during your period? If so, how? Do you wear a diva cup? And while I'm on the subject what exactly is a diva cup?

You can have sex during your period same as any other time of the month. A Diva Cup is a kind of menstrual cup; when you insert it, it rests close to the entrance of your vagina to collect your flow, and so intercourse (which I'm guessing is the kind of sex you're referring to) while wearing one would be pretty much impossible.

More on menstrual cups here:

I think you're confusing a Diva Cup with a diaphragm--they're very different things. [Smile] Hope that helped!

I thank God I was raised Catholic, so sex will always be dirty. --John Waters

Having sex during your period is perfectly fine (if it's okay with your partner, because he might feel a bit weird about it). In fact, many girls particularly like sex while it's that time of the month because the endorphins (natural painkillers) released during sex help to relieve cramps or moodiness.

Diva Cups are alternatives to tampons and pads. They're much better for the environment, because they last for at least 5 years, and can be better for your health. They provide almost no chance for infection if you wash them when you're supposed to, they don't absorb the natural vaginal fluids that prevent you from getting dried out, and you don't have to change them every 4-6 hours. You can leave them in for up to twelve hours.. However, they are not a form of birth control and having sex while wearing one would be, as snailshells put it, nearly impossible.

Where did you leave your baby bleeding in her bed? Her ghost has come to stay.. Oh, you can try, you can't chase her away
