Ok, so I donated blood today, and I was just wondering, seeing as they sample the blood before giving it out, would they call you if they found out that you had an STD? Do they test your blood for all STD? and possibly pregnancy?

They're only going to test you for bloodborne viruses: for HIV and Hepatitis. They have no reason to test you for others, nor for pregnancy -- after all, you can't make someone else pregnant with your blood. [Smile]

So, if you need a pregnancy test and/or STI screen, you need to arrange those with your healthcare provider.

Oh ok. Thanks, I just thought that all STD's were bloodborne, my bad [Smile] .
I knew you couldn't make someone else pregnant, but they asked me if I was/could be. I thought that maybe someone who was pregnant might have something in their blood, but maybe they just asked that to discourage pregnant women given blood.

Once again thanks for the info.
