Alright, do my prom is Saturday and I take Ortho - lo. I am also on the green pills, and I just wanted to make it sure that I would not have my period on prom night. But I was doing research and found that many women were unsuccessfully able to skip their periods on ortho lo. I also thought you were suppose to go straight to a new pack, but they say they finished pack one, then on pack two, they took week 3, then 2, then 1? Anyone care to help?

Skipping a period, especially on a triphasic pill like Ortho tricyclen lo, is something that is best discussed with a doctor, so that you're sure you're doing it in a manner that won't compromise the pill's effectiveness. But yes, it's true that even if you did it all right, you could still experience some breakthrough bleeding or spotting- that's pretty common.
