Hi, i'm on my 2nd pack of 3-month of tri-sprintec pills. (I've been on the pill for almost 4 months now) and i just wanted to know that is a backup birthcontrol method(such as condoms) only needed to prevent pregnancy the first week when you first start taking the pill?
I had my placebo/menstural cycle week about a week and a half ago, and a few days after I started taking my pill again my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex but did not ejaculate in me.
So what im really trying to ask, is if you take the pill correctly, do you still need backup protection after you start taking your pills again after your menstural cycle?

thx [Smile]

If you have taken your pill correctly, you are going to be as protected from pregnancy as you're going to get if sexually active. This applies to all parts of the cycle.

What it doesn't do is provide STD/STI prevention. We usually recommend at least 2 negative tests plus at least 6 month's monogomy between partners before forgoing the condom.
