When I masturbate, the skin connecting my penis shaft to my penis head (under the head) starts to get get a small pain, irratated and really red and almost like it wants to bleed, but t doesnt. Anyone ever heard of this problem or any over the counter medication to help?

Welcome to the boards, guy900.
Be a bit gentler. It sounds like the downward force your hand makes is ripping this bit of skin (called the raphe, in case you were wondering [Smile] ).
Also using lubricant (this can just be water but there are lots of things you can use) and sliding your hand rather than pulling a certain part of the skin up and down will help. I'm not sure if I can say anything more because they'll edit it out. [Smile]

Yes, I've heard of this problem. [Wink]

You're rubbing too hard for too long in the same vulnerable spot -- ouch. I agree with smileyjoseph. You'll have to change your technique.

I learned a new word today. Raphe. I looked it up, and it doesn't pertain only to penises.

Yep, just looked it up too. Apparently a raphe is also any kind of seam or narrow protruding joint. Wow. [Smile]

I don't mean to rain on the vocabulary parade that seems to be in progress here, but isn't that more commonly called a frenulum?

I actually looked up Raphe as well, and that's not the bit that connects the glans to the shaft, but the seam of the shaft which actually continues all the way down to the anus, which is (intresting factoid) where the urethra closed up prior to birth, and also where the two sides of the scrotum join, instead of staying separate, as they do in female development, creating labia.

Often when a penis is circumcised the frenulum is removed, which could, I suppose, lead to some confusion.

Here are some links:

I've just gone from thinking I had a frenulum and knowing what it was, to discovering I don't have one at all. Oh dear. Obviously I got raphes and frenula (is that the plural of frenulum?) mixed up. [Wink]
