Hi there!

Well my girl friend and i have been having sex for about 7months now and are exploring the world of sex. we are considering having sex in the bath. We are just wondering whether the water/tempreature can have an effect on the condom and cause a higher risk of pregnancy. i would also like to know that if i ejaculate in the water while we are both in the bath is there any chance she can get pregnant? or does the water kill the sperm? Please post back!

In general, sex is a land-only activity. Sexual intercourse in the water is difficult and does present some extra risks to those you'd have normally.

For starters, having intercourse while in water can push water into the vagina, something that isn't particularily good for the vagina.

Additionally, condom use is more complicated, and so the risk of the condom tearing is increased. If you are going to be active in water-play, it is important to have silicon-based lubricant, as silicon-based lubricant can withstand water and will therefore keep the condom lubricated during intercourse (water will basically make water-based lubricant useless, and water on its own can greatly reduce the vagina's natural lubricancy and therefore make intercourse generally less pleasent for the woman and harder on the condom).

The water temperature will generally have no great affect on sperm, especially not if you were to ejaculate near or into her vagina, and it's not going to do anything as far as STIs are concerned, either.

Sperm won't live a long time in bath water, but bath water is not going to just kill sperm, either. Though, generally speaking, sperm ejaculated into a tub would have an incredibly difficult time finding there way through the tub water and into your girlfriend's vagina. They swim, but they're hardly olympic-trained swimmers. [Smile]

Still, ejaculating in the water, if you were to do so near enough to her vulva, could present a risky situation as far as pregnancy is concerned.

So, to sum it all up, there's no reason you can't engage in some sexual activity in the water (such as manual sex), but intercourse is usually best left to dry land.

The soap and warm water should kill the sperm. And also, altough sperm are good swimmers, they're not that great. So its not like they will swim to you. But if you ejeculate into her, well that's another thing.

But why would you want to take that risk ?

And do you really want to do it in the bath ? It would be much more easier if you just do it out of the water, on land. And it's fairly difficult to use a condom properly in water, anyway. It is easier for it to slip for example. Also, water takes away natural lubrications so that causes more fiction. So use plenty of lubricant, silicon-based lubricant which helps to keep things lubricated in water in order of reducing friction and therefore condom breakage if you do it in water.

As for your question concerning the fact that a condom can break in hot water. Well it has to be really hot and I think you are not taking hot enough bath for that.

(Mindmeld ! :Sorry if it took too long, I was gone for a moment and when I posted it, there you were already there.)

Sex in water is perfectly safe as long as you do it properly.
#1. Like dailicious said, use the right type of condom. They're not any harder to find than water-based condoms.

#2. Don't use more than 2-3 inches of water to make it a little more comfortable for both of you.

#3. If you want to make it a little more exciting, hot water makes body temperature rise and blood flow. Do you follow?

You might also want to read the Cosmopolitan Aqua Kama Sutra. They sale it online.

"#1. Like dailicious said, use the right type of condom. They're not any harder to find than water-based condoms."

I think you mean lubricant. : ) There are no water-based condoms, last I heard.

Also, I think it's been pretty established that it's just best not to risk all of the possible complications of aqua sex. That's pretty much the easiest solution, and the most stress-free. Hey, how about a water bed? : D

"i masterbate with the bath faucet head, will this put water in my vagina??? if so, what are the negetive outcomes???"

Like most liquids that go UP the vagina, water's pretty much bound to come OUT of the vagina. However, you'll probably not want water spraying up there in general, as it can deprive you of a lot of the natural cozy stuff that lines the walls of your vagina, and thus make you very uncomfortable. Water's good for external stimulation, though. : ) And really, if you're actually touching the shower head against your vulva, or putting it inside... keep in mind that other people probably use that shower too, and a shower head isn't the easiest thing to clean properly for these sorts of activities.

Your risk of pregnancy there is pretty small.

You can take a pregnancy test now though, to be sure.

(In the future, please start a new topic so you're not hijacking someone elses thread! Thanks!)

I don't know why your period is late. It could still be on it's way.

But you won't know if you're pregnant or not unless you take a pregnancy test or get your period.
