is there such a thing as an expiration date to emergency contraceptives? i'd like to buy one before i have sex and use it when something unexpected happens. also, is it more effective to intake them immediately after you buy them? thanx.

Yes, any medication has an expiration date. In some cases they are hard to read or interpret so ask your dispensing phramacist to point it out to you and explain it if it is difficult to understand.
