I've searched the archives and haven't found much on this topic. My girlfriend and I are thinking about performing golden showers on each other because we are both very curious about it and have enjoyd watching videos of them. Are there any medical reasons that we should reconsider?

Well urine is sterile unless you drink a lot of it than you'll get sick. But there really isn't any medical reason why you shouldn't do it.

Urine is sterile, yes: which would make health concerns a nonissue if it didn't have to pass through the genitals.

But it does.

So, play with urine can pass on STIs, by virtue of coming in contact with those bacetria or viruses.

So, if you and yours haven't practiced safer sex for at least six months monogamously and each had at least two full and negative STI screens, there are health hazards.

Also, another practical concern -- you will want to make sure that any area involved is free of irritation, cuts, or other abrasions before beginning. Not only could urine be uncomfortable on broken skin, it could cause further irrition or lead to infection (since, as Miz Scarlet stated, it must pass through the genitals which are not sterile). Further, it would be wise to be careful around the mucus membranes for the same reasons.
