Yep, they certainly could have.
Really, the only way to assure a reasobale amount of safety for unprotected vaginal, anal, oral or manual sex is if:
- you and yours have been ONLY with each other for at least one year in terms of those activities, and
- you and yours have been practicing safer sex for the whole of that years, and
- you and yours have had at leastt TWO full STD/STI screens, six months apart, during that year with negative results across the board.
If all of those things aren't the case, ytou just need to know that if you decide to have those forms of sex unprotected, you are deciding to engage in risky behaviour in terms of your health and his.
No one can make that choice for you, but we advise against it.
