Just a quick question. My boyfriend and i prefer to go skin to skin rather than use a condom. I am on birth control pills and i take them very reguarily and on time everyday. However, i am on cyproflaxicin for an urinary tract infection and my doctor said i only take these pills when i having sexual intercourse. My boyfriend suggested using spermicidal jelly for awhile and then pull out and put a condom on. How safe is this method for me and my being on different medications, including birth control?

As far as protecting you from disease and infection? It isn't . Not at all.

I'm sorry, but I have a really hard time following the 'we prefer skin-to-skin" rationale. I just do. Perhaps if I didn't know that things like HPV and the AIDS vurius, which kill people, are as widespread as they are because of people not using safer sex practices, I could buy it. But I do know that, so I don't buy it.

Pregnancy is certainly something to be concerned about. But accidental pregnancy can actually be dealt with well in many ways: with emergecny contraception, with abortion, with adoption, by having a child and rearing it well. Pregnancy rarely kills anyone, and certainly doesn't harm those who aren't directly involved. Would that we could say as much about sexually transmitted disease and infection.

As far as your borth control methosd, if you are on the pill, you are relatively safe, you know that. As far as things with more far-reaching and damaging consequences, you aren't, and you're not just compromising your safety, you're compromising your partners safety, and everyone the two of you will have contact with in the rest of your lives. I am simply not going to okay that, endorse it, or encourage you to believe that it is okay because it just isn't.
