I love the original idea, but I was not raped- I was molested by a close family member. I want to be able to talk about what happened to me with others, but it appears that there isn't a shirt for it. I am sure that there are others out there who want something similar.

As an alternative, i think "I was sexually abused" could also work.

I'm not sure if there are plans to make more t-shirts with different sayings, but if you prefer one that says "I was molested", you could always get a custom t-shirt done- there are lots of places you can order custom tees online, and some cities have stores that do it as well. [Smile]

Also, seriously? Just get the "I was raped" shirt and wear that, if you'd like. The point of the shirt is to open up conversation about a topic that's taboo. People who have been sexually abused in any way tend to suffer the same consequences: forced silence, made to feel responsible somehow, made to feel ashamed for something that wasn't their fault. So, really, this shirt isn't about being part of some exclusive club. If you feel that it applies to you, just go ahead and wear it.

I think that it would be incredibly disingenuous to wear a shirt that says "I was raped" and then not be a person who has gone through it. Can you imagine how it would feel telling someone, "Oh, I wasn't actually raped. I was molested"?

I have been through similar effects because of what happened to me, but I don't think that what happened to me was nearly as traumatic as it would be to be raped.

Just passing through, but a sexual assault from a family member is still rape. We have terms to talk about types of rape - forcible rape, violent rape, date rape, acquaintence rape, child sexual abuse, incest, what have you - but those are all terms for rape, which is a sexual abuse, no matter how it happens or who the perpetrator is/was.
