I know that the polls aren't completely in yet, but there were 2 important gay rights issues this election. Amendment 43 defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Referendum I allows domestic partnerships to be fully recognized, and gives the partners all the benifits of marriage. At this point Amendant 43 is passing 55% to 45% [Frown] Referendum I is losing 47% to 53% [Mad] this makes me very very mad. I hate people who deny other people basic civil rights.

I was incredibly disappointed to see this, too, and while I'm just one vote, one vote can make a difference, and I just wish I could have been eligible to vote in Colorado this year. [Frown]

It's been incredibly unfortunate and disheartening, as well, to see how many states this year have same-sex marriage bans as part of their ballot, and how many people are voting in favor of these bans.

I AM happy (back to Colorado), at least, to see that Bill Ritter is very clearly ahead to be Governor. I listened to a couple of the radio-channel interviews with both of the major candidates, and I really appreciated what Bill Ritter had to say about sexual health education and the accesability of and knowledge about contraception. I'm hopeful and optomistic that he'll come through and make some changes in Colorado in the regard of women's rights and protection.

Ya, he's gonna be alot better than owens, I unfortunately don't get to vote for 3 more years, but one of my friends pointed out, that just like all civil rights issues this one will get raised every election until it passes.

The amendment in Virginia against gay marriage (which also denies legal rights to heterosexual couples in civil unions... brilliant, people, just brilliant) also passed, by a disgusting majority of roughly 60-40. I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed in my state. *sigh*

As a native Virginia who voted against it, I am also really disappointed. I want to believe that there is a high number of liberal-leaning people in Virginia (which is true for many areas; it is a very diverse state), but this is yet another let-down. [Frown]

Although I'm disgusted by ref. i not passing in Colorado, we should give props where props are due.

Arizona had a measure that defined marriage as being between a man and a woman, and it was defeated.

So at least there's that.

amawesome - (adj.) a combination of 'amazing' and 'awesome,' usually by someone who has tied on a few too many. Ex: No, dude, listen! I like, luv ya man! I mean, you're like, amawesome!
