Hey everyoneeeeeeee

I was just wondering what you think the statistics would be in a school, take for example mine, for gay/bi/lesbians? We have about 1250 people and how many do you think are admitedly g/l/b ? I was just thinking about that today, and was just curious to know. It's kind of an iteresting thought eh?
I've always kinda wanted to know. I know you guys can't really tell me an exact number, I'm just curious to see what your estimate would be. Don't forget, a lot of people (and it's a shame) are still pretty OPENLY homophobic and I think that it's just sad. I think it's basically another form of prejudice. I also however, think that a lot of people don't know/won't admit/can't accept that they are g/l/b and I think that if they did acknowledge that they were, that there would be a significant change in that number.

What do you guys think?

The most comon demographic figure for gays in a general population is 10%. An average high school enrolement would be considered a general population.

Hover, as you will see here this is a hard number to pin down. From the different studies that have been done and cited on this link, I think it reasonable to assume that between 5-10% of a general population is gay.

Please note that, as the authors point out, people may have their reasons not to be truthful with survey takers.

Demographers are still trying to determine the true percentage.

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Too, I think probably between 2% and 4% are admittedly gay just based on my experience at my school. That would be between 25 and 50 people at your school. Wow, that seems like a lot.

At my school (which only has about 300 people in it) there would be one person in each grade. I'm the one in mine!
