My best friend Mandy and I are going on 7 years of a great friendship. She always had trouble finding herself a relationship. She and I would always talk about how we both wanted a great relationship and cool it could be if we both were happy.

She found herself a great girl who's now a complete b****. I can't stand my Best friends girlfriend. She used to be nice. THis girl treats my best friend like crap and doesn't care about her feelings. She threatens to leave our high school to another school and leaves my friend crying.

I've comfronted my best friend about this, yet, now they both hate me. I try to smile and be nice but her girlfriend just looks at me evily. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

They are about to celebrate their 1 year anniversary. I dont see what there is to celebrate?! It's a very unhealthy relationship.

Mandy, if you're reading this.... you need to get out of it now. I dont like how she treats you.

I dont know what to do about this situation. It goes in way deeper though.

Hey Jena,

Sounds like you and Mandy are going through a tough time.

I don't think there is much else you can do, since you've confronted Mandy about her girlfriend.

Perhaps the girlfriend sees you as competition, considering the long, close relationship you and Mandy have.

Mandy may also be clinging to her girlfriend because she feels that she won't find another if they break up.

Also take into consideration that you may not know the full story.

In any case, you can't help your friend if she doesn't want to help herself so be supportive in the meantime and be there if she needs you.

Before you damn Mandy's relationship, foirst ask yourself whether you think her girlfriend really treats her badly, or do you assume that because she treats you badly. Not all relationships are always happy, but they're still enjoyable. You and Mandy can still be good friends, even though you don't agree with her choice of partner or her way of dealing with her relationship.

jazzpenguin: My relationship with Mandy's girlfriend was peachy. I never had a problem with her. Until I had a conversation with Mandy about their relationship. She refuses to talk to me and I really don't care. I still support Mandy, but I know that Mandy can do so much better. She can find happiness somewhere else. I would always spend my weekends with Ed and Mandy. I don't know how a good frienship turned sour.

Competition between Ed and I is very out of the question. Mandy will always be my best friend and nothing more. Ed is Mandy's first girlfriend and yes I do think that she's afraid to not be in a future relationship.

It's all sad. My best friend does deserve 100% better.

Jena,
You said at the end of your reply that you think Mandy deserves 100% percent better. But surely if Mandy enjoys her relationship, then who she deserves doesn't matter, as long as she's happy. As the poet Cowper said:
We all recieve what we accept,
Not what we deserve
And he who gives his consent

IMHO Mandy's girlfriend has mis-interpreted your questions about their relationship. You may have had the best of intentions, but she probably saw it as you trying to find a way to get between her and Mandy.

Try and explain to her that you weren't trying to break them up when you asked about them.

Just how I see it.
