Please help, I was due for my period today, but have had light (bright red / brownish) bleeding since last firday every second day. We are trying to have a baby, but did a preg test yesterday and it was negative????. Haven't got my period today? would this be implantation bleeding? Ectopic. Thanks

Implantation bleeding only occurs in about 1/3 of pregnancies, and usually presents only as tinged discharge or brief brown spotting lasting no more than a day. Anything resembling a menstrual period likely means there's no pregnancy, and if you tested on or after 14 days past ovulation, the test was accurate.
If you're in doubt, you can consult the doctor who is (hopefully) keeping tabs on your reproductive health and has given you a full physical checkup and advice on conceiving. Posts: 4636 | From: USA/Northern Europe | Registered: Oct 2005

Actually, implantation bleeding is fairly rare and it generally last no more than one day or so. So that makes me more inclined to think that's more general spotting you're noticing here or well just a lighter period that the one you're generally used to (especially given it's close to when you expected your period), which can sometimes happen.
How long have you waited after your risk before taking a pregnancy test ?
If you are still worried, then you can just take another pregnancy test, assuming it's been at least 10-14 days after you had unprotected sex.
