i have been off my birth control for a month now. my boyfriend and i had sex around the time i think i was ovulating and the condom broke and he ejaculated in me. my period has been a brown color, very light, and only lasted three days. i have had to go off my pill for a month before, but my period was normal that time. could i be pregnant or could this just be the result of me coming off my pill?

Unless you have been charting your basal temps and cervical mucus, you cannot possibly know when or if you are ovulating.

Since you are off the BC, you have a high risk of pregnancy at this point. However, if you got your period (which very possibly could have been affected by stopping the pill) pregnancy isn't likely. (Some women do experience what is known as 'implantation bleeding' but it is extremely scant and doesn't last more than a day usually. I'd venture to guess you did have your period)

i actually can tell when i am ovulating because i get mittelschmerz, but my period came back a couple of days later and it was heavier so it must have been just from the bc. thanks for your help

Actually, all the time you've been on the pill you haven't been ovulating, so whatever mid-cycle discomfort you've had wasn't from ovulation.

And coming right back to a normal fertility cycle in the first mopnth off of the pill would be incredibly unusual.
