i just had a baby and me and my boyfriend had sex 2 weeks after that and i bleed but that normal and then we had sex again and i did ok now its the 5th week and i got my period but its been on for 8 days now and my period usually stays on for 3 or 4 days before i had my baby. im worried there could be somthing wrong should i be. Its never stayed on this long before and its still on. i am not having any pain and it seems like a period but i'm worried about the length . even my mom my said it should be off today or yesterday but its not. could we have damage something? help please i need to know before i go for my 6 week check up on thurdays.

How heavy are you bleeding? If it's light, i wouldn't worry about it. If it's still heavy, it may be of some concern.

Pregnancy and childbirth really send your hormones out of whack ... It's not uncommon that your periods after pregnancy are different than they were pre pregnancy.

Your best bet is to call you OB's office and explain the situation to one of the nurses.

i'm not bleeding heavy its normal. Its just the length of it. i am wearing tampons and i kniw i wasn't suppose to inject anything into me for at least 6 weeks but i had sex already so i thought it wouldn't matter but if there is somthing wrong could i be making it worse?

Actually, after childbirth something occurs called lochia, a discharge much like the world's longest period: I really hope your OB/GYN mentioned it to you, otherwise....well, that stinks, because it's no fun to be freaked about endless bleeding.

Point is, bleeding -- often heavy -- generally continues after childbirth usually for around six weeks.

(But ditch the tampons, eh? Use pads for right now.)
